I've been married to Wendy (social worker from Hawaii) since 1993 and we have a son, Peter, adopted at one day old who graduated from Central Catholic High School in 2015.

We live in NE Portland. I teach history courses full time for PSU, one online a term for OSU. My current research/writing project is tentatively entitled: "Africa Existential: American Quests from 'The African Queen" to KONY 2012."

For fun I head up a little nonprofit that links about 40 schools in Ghana and the Pacific Northwest through letter writing so that they can learn about each other as friends, so I get to spend a month in West Africa each year visiting schools plus spending time in Oregon schools, including AHS, which thanks to the efforts of Steve Fick joined us in 2014! I should also mention that Todd Olsen and Steve are major donors.
